Travel Begins When You...

The point of yoga is to experience that you’re not your body; you’re not your thinking mind. You’re not limited or subject to change. You experience that in the peace of meditation because your body is not talking to you, your body is not bringing you back to it. You are able to essentially go travelling. The funny and most paradoxical thing is that the real travel begins when you’re absolutely still.

Have a great week!

Did you Know? Green Coconuts can be opened with a butter knife?

Did you know? Did you know that you can open a green coconut with a butter knife? Most people think only a machete can do the job but a butter knife is much less difficult! At the place where the coconut is attached to the tree, if you look you will see little flaps hugging the top of the coconut. Simply slide the butter knife under these flaps across the circular tip and wedge the top right off! then just stick in your straw and enjoy what is literally the healthiest drink on earth. Green/Fresh coconuts are the best.

Thanksgiving & Good News, Bad News

There is an old ancient story called “Good News, Bad News.”

So if you’re in the spiritual world, you may have heard these stories.  There’s a Chinese farmer and the farmer has one horse and a strong young son. The son and the horse do all the work on the farm. The horse has the plough and the son does the thing. So all, the whole household relies on the son and the horse. Well, one day the horse jumps the fence and runs away. Now the son is without the horse, the whole village hears about this and the whole village comes over to them and offers them condolences, “Oh my god, it’s so bad, it’s such bad news, I’m so sorry for you, that you lost your horse, oh my gosh.” The farmer says, “Good news, bad news, who knows?”

The next day, the horse comes back and following the horse are five wild mustangs he pulled out of the mountains and they all jumped back in the pen. Now this guy has six horses. A horse is valuable back then. Six horses now. The village hears about it, they come running over to celebrate with him and happy, “Yes, good news, good news, celebration!” And he says, “Good news, bad news, who knows?”

These are wild horses and they have to get broken and have to tamed, right? Taming a wild horse requires breaking the will of the horse. You’re not allowed to be a horse anymore, you’re going to be mine, break the will, they don’t like it at first, and then the son hadn’t broken all five horses. Well one of them throws him really far and breaks. He says, “Good news, bad news, who knows?”

The next day, the army comes to town looking for all able body conscripts to go and fight some stupid war. Well, he isn’t an able body, so the son gets spared his entire life because he had broken his leg the day before.

So you see where we’re going with this? That which what you think might have been the problem, actually a lot of times becomes a blessing or an opportunity. And that which you thought was a blessing or an opportunity sometimes may not be. Things are not easily categorized so we don’t want to make any judgments about good or bad or right or wrong. We just want to experience, experience without judgment.

Have a wonderful, thankful week-
Fred Busch

Did you know?

Did you know? Did you know that if you want to double the lifespan of a mouse in a lab you simply feed it half the calories. This is true of all mammals including us. Want your dog to live longer? Feed him/her a bit less. Overeating is the most dangerous thing any animal can do as the effect on the digestive organs and the heart is not positive.
With food, less is more! Oxygen is our primary food, water is our next primary food, and 'food' is a far distant third!

Maraka Ewoi - Greatest Person and our Guide in Kenya

Elogita Maraka Ewoi is one of the greatest people i have ever met in my life.  He has influenced me in many positive ways as he does for all he meets!  I met Maraka in 1995 and we have been close friends ever since! Maraka and our mutual best friend Mboya are two of our main guides for the Africa Yoga Safari.

Becoming friends with these amazing people is a priceless opportunity.  We are supporting Paige Elenson's Africa Yoga Project as i will be teaching a huge Workshop in Nairobi on the last day! We will practice Yoga everyday... travel with our own chef... and be on SAFARI in a reserve that is very exclusive and wild.

We will be scouting for Leopards one minute...and walking to our Cabins the next.  This is the real thing everybody with an infrastructure of my best friends who are Kenyans who have experience guiding americans on Safari for over 18 Years!   Kwame my main partner is the owner of Shimei House our Nairobi base camp and we have been friends since University of Michigan in 1990's.

Going to Kenya with a better 'tour' i think is not possible!  Nobody could have arranged a trip anything close to this since we are using exlusively my connections throughout the entire Safari!  If you can't make it this year... Mungu Akipenda...Swahili for God Willing... you can make the next one!

We have 4 places left!  Message me to register or ask questions.

Did you know?

Did you know? Did you know that the most revealing characteristic of the enlightened person is Spontaneity. An enlightened Guru is rarely predictable and lives in the ever unfolding present. The ability to live without patterns and to be vigilantly aware of our freedom is the number one skill we all must practice.
